A mansion sits in darkness

Steep crags battered by the rain

The sound of crashing water

Echoes up from blackened waves

There’s a girl who needs an answer

Invisible hands across the bridge

There’s a voice that can’t be silenced

From the cradle to the grave

Beware the walking path

Through the glade and through the wood

A young girl took the devil’s hand

And danced her part in death’s dark hood

There’s a girl who heard the fairies

Steeple bells that chime midnight

There’s a song that must be whispered

Through the dell in bright moonlight

All the treasures of the earth

Will not lift this ancient curse

A black book with a burning candle

A sheet of music on the mantle
